Our
Production sale along with the Lodge, Burnbank and Ioman
pedigree Limousin herds made for a fantastic day’s trading at
Carlisle on Saturday 18th November 2006. We saw tremendous
averages for all classes of our stock on offer. All 80 lots from
ours and the other three herds sold, almost a total clearance,
grossing a remarkable £211,837.58
Topping the sale at 8,500gns was
our homebred rising five year old cow, Grahams Sophie. Featuring
full French bloodlines, Sophie is by the bull Paon and is out of
the dam Parade who sold at our last production sale for
7,200gns. With a Beef Value of LM+23, Grahams Sophie is a third
calver and was sold in calf to Samy, who as you probably all
know was the Burke Trophy Winner at the 2005 and 2006 Royal Show
and a member of the Nat West Team of Five Champions at the Royal
Show 2006. Grahams Sophie was sold to J Gammie who runs the
Westpit pedigree herd at Drumforber, Laurencekirk,
Kincardineshire.
Sibylle, born in 2001, is by Nounours, a paternal half brother
to the noted Nenuphar, out of Nicotine who is sired by the
equally noted Jersey. Sibylle is well bred young cow and she was
sold to I Brown, Brownwood House, Holbeach, Spalding, Lincs for
his Lowgate pedigree herd for 7,800gns.She was sold in-calf to
our stock bull Rodeo.
Sibylle’s daughter, Grahams Virtue, was sold to the establishing
Elderberry pedigree herd of E Blenkhorn & Son, Elder Farm,
Willitoft, Howden, Goole, Humberside for 5,000gns. Sired by
Waindale Prime, Grahams Virtue - a two year old heifer - was a
prolific 2006 show prizewinner and was one half of the Exhibitor
Bred Winning Pair for the Grahams Herd at the Royal Show 2006.
The one bull we had on offer, Rodeo made 7,500gns when going
under the hammer to someone who would rather remain anonamouys.
A big, powerfully built bull, Rodeo is October 2000 born and is
by the Jersey son Noduleux and out of the dam Lame.
A mystery buyer also bought Grahams Upperclass for 7,000gns.
Born in September 2003, this first calver is by Grahams Poncho,
who sold for 20,000gns at the ILC Sale in 2004, and is out of
Nicole. She was sold with her Rodeo-sired bull calf, Grahams
Badger, at foot and performance figures showing a Beef Value of
LM+28 put her easily into the top 10% of recorded Limousin
animals.
Grahams Virtuous a fine maiden heifer also hit the 7,000gns
mark. November 2004 born by the Bambino sired Icare and out of
Rosita, she was knocked down to the Beath pedigree herd of J
Thomson, Easterton House, Hilton of Beath Farm, Kelty, Fife.
A Ewing, Drumbretton, Annan, Dumfriesshire paid a handsome
6,200gns for the prolific nine year old French bred cow, Nicole.
By Limier and out of Issue, this tremendous breeding cow was
sold with her seventh calf at foot, a Samy-sired bull calf,
called Grahams Bernie.
The very first calf at foot in the ring, sold separately as an
‘A’ lot, made 5000gns. Grahams April, by the stock bull Samovar
was born on 15th December 2005. Out of the Geant sired Maty,
this eleven month old heifer calf was purchased by Mr & Mrs DK
Wheeler, Goodiford Mill, Kentisbeare, Cullompton, Devon for
their Rosecroft pedigree herd.
With five lots over 7,000gns and eight in all over 5,000gns.
Nineteen cows averaged a mighty £4,371 with 13 heifers making
£2,568 per head as our 33 lots grossed £124,320. |
