Graham’s Limousin herd established in 1979 with the importation of 20 Limousin heifers and two bulls from renowned Limousin herds in France. One of the bulls imported was Sirocco, which bred so well in the herd that he was later exported to the USA. Sirocco is the only bull which was re-exported to France to enable him to be exported to the USA and this entailed concessions in the US Government import rules to be made on a one off basis. He then went on to be one of the top performing sires in the USA. Click here for more on Sirocco. New blood lines were introduced to the herd in 1997,1998, and 1999 with the importation of 25 proven cows and 2 bulls from award winning herds in France. In 2000 a further 10 cows and 1 bull calf, Rotary, were imported, and 2002 saw the importation of 3 cows, which included two top class females by Jersey. Click here for a picture of Jersey. The Grahams 50 cow herd has had good success winning three breed championships at Perth Bull Sales and many prizes at national and local shows. The Limousin herd is part of a farming enterprise based at Boquhan Home Farm which consists of 700 acres of low lying productive land situated near Stirling Castle with Ben Lomond in the distance. The farm is also home to the 500 cow Strathallan Jersey herd and Berrichon du Cher sheep. The main business of the company is GRAHAMS DAIRIES the largest independent dairy company in Scotland, and has recently won, for the second year, Scottish Dairy Company of the Year 2002. The company sources milk from farms in the surrounding area, which is then processed and packed at Bridge of Allan before being distributed throughout Scotland by its fleet of refrigerated lorries. The company was founded in 1939 and now has over 210 staff.
