GRAHAMS SAMSON WORLD RECORD BREAKER

Grahams Samson ,pictured right with Boquhan farm manager Brian Wills, has shattered the British and World record price for a British Limousin Cattle Society sale, also breaking the all breeds beef record for the sales centre Borderway Mart, Carlisle. The 18 month old bull was also placed Supreme Champion at the pre-sale show.

When asked by the farming press about Samson, Robert,   pictured rear right, said "this is the best animal we have bred, he is out of an exceptional breeding cow. Samson is the cream of our 50 Pedigree Limousin herd that was started in 1979". Robert has also retained 200 of the 300 straws of semen taken from Samson with proud new owner Doug Edgar, pictured far left, saying that he also would make semen available for sale.
Doug and his wife Carol come from Fellside, Ousby, near Penrith. They have over 60 cows in their Pedigree Limousin herd which like Robert Grahams was started in 1979. Doug was quoted as saying "I liked previous bulls that Samson's mother Lisette has bred and he has excellent figures with a beef value of LM+32. The bull also has a tremendous growth rate for his age".

Underbidders for Samson were father and son Drew and Bob Adam, of Newhouse of Glamis, Glamis, Angus, who kicked of the bidding at 20,000gns, while Doug Edgar entered the bidding alongside several other breeders after the price topped 40,000gns.

The final quote of the day belongs to Auctioneer David Thomlinson who described the sale as "UNBELIEVABLE".
